When I got started in content promoting, I often struggled to go looking for ideas and content. But the concept is that if a high ranking site like Better Networker has you link on it, you get a miles better ranking for that post on Better Networker.
Just do a Google search any of my blog content over the last a quarter. You'll see that a lot of them are still ranking on the first page of Google for that topic for both the blog post, as well as the forum post on Better Networker.
